The drum is made of yellow HDPE (high-density polyethylene), which weighs less than steel, is resistant to dents, punctures, and certain chemicals, and may be incinerated. The drum is blow-molded for wall strength and thinness. Ultraviolet (UV) inhibitors minimize fading and discoloring. Full drums can be stacked up to three high. The drum has a storage capacity of 30 gallons, weighs 14 lb. and measures approximately 28-1/4" high and 22-1/2" in diameter. It is suitable for holding containers with a capacity of 5 gallons or less.

This product meets U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulation 173.12(b), Hazardous Material Regulation 181 (HM-181), and United Nations (UN) standards concerning the packaging and shipping of hazardous materials. This is being used in a school setting to hold emergency food and supplies. We had originally stored food in what we thought were sturdy, lidded, plastic containers. We had no idea that mice can fit in a space as small as a pencil! They chewed up everything, even toilet paper. So we needed something to keep those mice out. We figured something that had a screw top would be fullproof. The top takes about 8 turns to close, so it's super tight. And so far, so good! Make sure you take note of the dimensions, it's definitely tall. But it fits in our space, so we are all set!
