I received the correct product, 3M 79942 Black Scotchlite 1" x 50' as printed on the generic Scotchcal box. It IS the famous retroreflective 3M Scotchlite tape and looks great.

* Please read this important tip: The tape has some sort of protective clear plastic that needs to be peeled off to reveal the dark black metallic gloss color once applied. This protective plastic almost blends in so it is easy to miss. I used a hobby knife to peel up just the corner and pulled the corner off the tape after it was applied to the surface.

The black blends in to most smooth black plastics, and has a light gloss to it, and metallic speckle if you look closely in the light. In the dark from the driver's seat the tape reflect bright white. It is really cool.
