Heavy Weight Kevlar Knit Gloves Review

I took a hint from a famous TV chef whose initials are AB who tossed his V-slicer hand guard and donned a Kevlar glove instead. Kevlar is the material often found in 'bullet proof vests' and is quite strong and not easily cut. I ordered these and when they arrived, on time and as described, I tried to cut one of them with a good kitchen knife. I could only do so with effort and considerable sawing back and forth.

So I tried wearing one on the hand which held the food in order to run it up and down the V-slicer. Even being careful, I hit the blade with the glove from time to time but it never cuts through. I inspect the fabric after every use. I expect these will be a disposable item but also think they'll give considerable wear time since I'm only wearing one glove at a time.

I can't guarantee that this is the best idea that AB ever had but I'm taking care with it and it seems to be working well for me. The gloves are comfortable but would NOT be effective for an item stabbing into the knit fabric, only for blades cutting across the knit. In other words, with a mandolin or V-slicer, they are a help but they wouldn't stop a nail. Then, you have to ask yourself, why are you running nails through your V-slicer?
