I am your typical middle age dude who can't see closeup as well anymore... had 20/15 (l) and 20/17 (r) in the days of sharp-shooting, but now can't read a book or focus on my firearm's front sight without optic assistance. Our eye doc said that I do not need prescription glasses, just a pair of 1.25 or 1.50 magnification lenses from the local drugstore. Got 'em in 1.5 and that did the trick, but they are just too skinny for proper protection at the range.That's where these great Spits Magshot sports & shooting glasses came into play. I didn't know they existed (hey... I have never needed to even look at these type of glasses until now...)
First: These glasses are comfortable and both my teenage son & daughter give them a thumbs-up for style (she is harder to please than he is...) They hug my head firmly and do not slip when on the range. The only improvements possible would be if they had radial arm adjustment capability like radians do, or the ability to adjust the nose width to further enhance comfort, but neither is that big issue with these glasses in my book.
Second: Unlike the bifocal sports glasses, the magnifying adapter fits inside the glasses over the nose bridge and it sits right in the center of the vision line.... which is PERFECT for this old guy's use at the range. The bifocal glasses are fantastic for working on the car and reading microwave cooking instructions, but you have to tilt your head back a bit to use them on the range when trying to line up a rifle shot through a rear/front sight alignment. With these Magshot glasses, the center magnification position lets your head stay in its normal position to make the sighting and take the shot. I purchased two pairs of the Magshot Hunting model, one clear lens and the other high-contrast yellow, with a 1.5 magnifying insert. Awesome they are!
Lastly: It was nice for the company to include a carry pouch for each pair of glasses that doubles as a lens cleaner rag... very nice touch!
These glasses are an excellent product at a good price, especially at twenty four bucks (mag included) and free shipping. Highly recommend these glasses if you are in the same situation (aka getting old...) or if your spouse is. Great purchase for my range bag, everyday use, and these would make a great gift.
