A somewhat unusual neurological syndrome has resulted in my becoming something of an expert on braces and other aids for impaired hands. In my case, some minor improvement has lessened the amount of wrist-drop being experienced, but function of the digits is still minimal.

Further, there seems to be an issue with the hand becoming cold easily. When it does so, my discomfort increases significantly. Thus, I sought a glove that would provide additional warmth. Thermoskin Arthritis Gloves seemed to be an option, but I really didn't need a pair - just the left hand glove. As I was reading the reviews, I saw that one reviewer recommended the Thermoskin Carpal Tunnel Glove for both warmth and support. That was what I had been searching for! I have worn the glove several times when my hand became cold, and it has raised the temperature enough to minimize my discomfort.

I am pleased with my purchase, so far. I ordered a small since my wrist is 5 1/2" in circumference. The measurement around my knuckles, as shown at the Arthritis Glove page, called for an extra-small. I am glad I chose the larger size as the extra-small would probably have been too constricting and I may not have been able to get it on my hand since my fingers are currently uncooperative.

This glove fits my smaller hand which measures approximately 6 3/4" from the wrist to the tip of my midde finger. The finger tops end just at the base of my nails; since I got these for primarily for warmth, I do not plan on cutting them any shorter. However, that would be easy to do without damaging the gloves. The velcro wrap provides enough support at the wrist for most occasions. I will be having my spouse cut the metal insert so that it is 1 1/2" shorter; this is so the support ends at the crease of my palm rather than extending to my fingers' base. I believe the glove is flexible enough so it would allow me to wear it while keyboarding - if my fingers worked. I will update when I am able to do so.

Although my skin is irritated by "plastic" band-aids and latex, I have experienced no problem while or after wearing the Thermoskin Carpal Tunnel Glove. I have not noticed any offensive or unusual odor being caused by the materials of which the glove is constructed.

For me the fit of this brace is good and I don't see how orienting the logo up or down has any effect on fitment. The brace does have a finite life span of two to three months due to the air pocket and the Velco loosing it's ability to hold. I replaced the air pocket with high density neoprene that I had and for the Velco tab used adhesive backed hook material I had attached to the ineffective original hook section.

The brace does relieve my issue, by day and night. I found that most of my arm damage occurs while I am sleeping and trapping my arm during my moving around. Wearing the brake overnight, and also wearing a wrist brace (the elbow tendons attach to the muscles that move the hand) at night and sometimes during the day was most effective.

The other idem I highly recommend are the Thera-Band FlexBars to exercise with. I was not too sure about the bar but with the specified exercise moves it really does work.

I am your typical middle age dude who can't see closeup as well anymore... had 20/15 (l) and 20/17 (r) in the days of sharp-shooting, but now can't read a book or focus on my firearm's front sight without optic assistance. Our eye doc said that I do not need prescription glasses, just a pair of 1.25 or 1.50 magnification lenses from the local drugstore. Got 'em in 1.5 and that did the trick, but they are just too skinny for proper protection at the range.

That's where these great Spits Magshot sports & shooting glasses came into play. I didn't know they existed (hey... I have never needed to even look at these type of glasses until now...)

First: These glasses are comfortable and both my teenage son & daughter give them a thumbs-up for style (she is harder to please than he is...) They hug my head firmly and do not slip when on the range. The only improvements possible would be if they had radial arm adjustment capability like radians do, or the ability to adjust the nose width to further enhance comfort, but neither is that big issue with these glasses in my book.

Second: Unlike the bifocal sports glasses, the magnifying adapter fits inside the glasses over the nose bridge and it sits right in the center of the vision line.... which is PERFECT for this old guy's use at the range. The bifocal glasses are fantastic for working on the car and reading microwave cooking instructions, but you have to tilt your head back a bit to use them on the range when trying to line up a rifle shot through a rear/front sight alignment. With these Magshot glasses, the center magnification position lets your head stay in its normal position to make the sighting and take the shot. I purchased two pairs of the Magshot Hunting model, one clear lens and the other high-contrast yellow, with a 1.5 magnifying insert. Awesome they are!

Lastly: It was nice for the company to include a carry pouch for each pair of glasses that doubles as a lens cleaner rag... very nice touch!

These glasses are an excellent product at a good price, especially at twenty four bucks (mag included) and free shipping. Highly recommend these glasses if you are in the same situation (aka getting old...) or if your spouse is. Great purchase for my range bag, everyday use, and these would make a great gift.

Ringers Gloves 313-11 Extrication Short Cuff Glove, Black, X-Large Review

These are very excellent gloves. The first benefit is the standardized fitting. With leather gloves, there is always the chance that the left and right hand gloves may not really be the same size. With these gloves, what you buy, is what you get.

They are lightweight, even when wet, and they dry well over a heat duct, or just on a bench in a work room. They are tough and you can grab something without being cut. They work well for firewood cutting because with the elastic cuff, your gloves don't fill up with chips. If you work in a muddy situation, you can rinse the gloves off with a hose.

The XXX-Large gloves are difficult to find, and I am glad Amazon carries them. They have a broad reach between thumb and index finger when picking up pieces of firewood. They grip well. The yellow color makes them easier to find in a work area.

After working with them for a while, when I went to put on my gloves, I found a cut in one of the fingers. I appreciated that it wasn't in my hand, but the rest of the glove was still in good condition. I put on a pair of latex gloves, put my finger into the cut glove finger then spread Shoe Goo, or some form of GOOP glues over the cut on the outside. When the glue dried, I could use the gloves again. [ You do not have to keep your finger in the glove, until the glue dries... ]

Also you can use Shoe Goo or some form of GOOP glues when the reinforcement "leather" comes loose because of the little stitches they use. Just spread a little glue under the loose flap, press it down and hold it in place with masking tape for a while, and the glove is "good as new."

BTW- If you're in blackberry country, these don't work for pulling them. The thorns pierce right through. For that work, you may well want to go back to thick leather gloves.
