I play basketball several times per week and ankle braces have saved me rolling my ankles dozens of times. I have been wearing ankle braces since 1997, am on my third set of these ATF2 ankle braces and have a few things to say.

If I lace them too tight, I have major foot pain. A snug lace up and there is no problem for me.

I wear the laces with thick socks and wear them when I try on new basketball shoes.

My first set was ruined after only a few uses because I washed them in the washing machine with my gym clothes. The machine washing and drying frayed every loose end, lace eye and the laces. I'll never do that again. With my second pair I always rinse them thoroughly with warm water immediately after taking them off and then hang them up to drip dry. By doing this they do not fall apart or mildew.
