We saw a bear and her cub at our last camping trip to the Sequoia National park, but didn't need to use this pepper gun but it was nice to know that we had some protection in case of any real danger. Of course I had a stun gun (3.9 mv) as well as one of those loud compressed-air horns too. My kids were laughing at me for buying a ping color one, but when you are in danger, who cares what color the pepper gun is.
