The SKOLNIK carbon steel open-head drum comes with a removable cover and a bolt ring, has a 55-gallon capacity, and can be used to store and transport hazardous solids or liquids. The drum and the cover are made of carbon steel, which is resistant to impacts and wear. An interior epoxy phenolic coating helps resist rust and certain chemicals. The bolt ring can be used to secure the lid to the drum. A gasket helps prevent leaks and is made of EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) rubber, which is resistant to heat, water, and wear. The drum has a storage capacity of 55 gallons, weighs 48 lb., and measures 33" high and 22-1/2" in diameter. The wall of the drum is 1.2 mm thick.

Purchased for use in Hazwoper training, so this drum works fine for that. The shipper did not include the DOT-required closure instructions, not a big deal for us because we are not shipping hazardous materials in it. However, if you purchase it for shipping hazardous materials, you'll need to get the closure instructions either from the seller or from the Skolnik website. Even if you know how to close the drum, per DOT regs, you must have a copy of the instructions for at least 90 days after you ship it, if it contains hazmat.
