FingerGuard LG (7 yrs. & up) Review

This finger guard really works! I purchased mine from there website because it offered a 30 day money back if it didn't work, how could you go wrong? When we got them we quickly slid it on my 3 year olds 2 middle fingers and he threw a fit at first. He would walk around sucking his fingers so much that slob would be running off his ELBOW onto the floor causing us to slip in it. YUCK! After a few hours he was fine wearing it. Dad actually started feeling bad removed it one day by slipping his finger from under the guard. BIG MISTAKE! From that day forward my son had learned how to slip his little fingers out from under the guard to suck his fingers. More so in the night when we cam in his guard would be ON but his fingers would be out.

** I read on there website that you can take some medical tape and wrap a few strips around his knuckles then slide his fingers back in. THAT WORKED! (if you need to kick it up a notch then add tape around his hand AND guard also.) We were consistent for 1 week with only removing it during bath time & Pre-k and as soon as he got in the car we strapped it back on.

During week 2 one day after he took a bath we left it off so his fingers can dry out and he didn't put his fingers in his mouth at all day OR night for a whole 2 weeks. We went 2 weeks with no guard on but noticed 1 night (when he was sick) he started sucking at night again so we just bought new bands to start reattaching it at night.

I think most kids can kick the habit quick. My son is 3, he doesn't talk and has a delay from being born prematurely. He catches on to things late BUT he was able to "get this" and understand that his hands cant be in his mouth. During the day ever once in a blue he might go to wards his mouth...we tell him no and he pulls his fingers away.

Thank you Finger Guard I NEVER thought this would work for MY child, but it does.

TIPS:
* If the child can remove there fingers, wrap the knuckle with a few strips of tape.
* If it is not enough, wrap a strip of tape around the widest part of the hand between the pointer and thumb.
* If the band is cutting into the wrist a little or making it red. wrap a bandaid around the band so that the "cotton" part is positioned where the band is causing redness.
* DON'T let it sit in water it will change this ugly foggy color but will change back after a few hours.
* If after washing it & drying the guard it seems hard to slide over the fingers, dust the inside with a TINY bit of powder & it will slip over the fingers just fine.
